— Description:
Hornet App is an AI-powered mobile application for iOS and Android that helps people in France identify Asian hornets and their nests through photos. It provides quick, explainable detection results, safety recommendations, and a community map to track confirmed sightings, helping citizens, beekeepers, and pest-control professionals protect biodiversity.
Problem
Statement
Asian hornets are an invasive species that threaten honeybee populations and biodiversity. People often struggle to distinguish them from harmless native species, leading to incorrect identification, unnecessary pest-control actions, and delayed responses to genuine threats. Additionally, the lack of a reliable, structured reporting system makes it difficult to track sightings and coordinate professional intervention.
Possible
Solution
Hornet App uses AI-powered image analysis combined with a rule-based verification engine to deliver reliable, understandable identification results and recommended actions. Users can photograph suspected hornets or nests, receive immediate guidance, and report confirmed sightings on a privacy-protected community map. Community verification, location tracking, and connections to relevant professionals enable faster reporting, better coordination, and more informed pest-control decisions.
